It is not too late to join a Home group Wild Goose study!
Our parish will be helping with a Habitat for Humanity build from Wednesday, October 30 through Saturday, November 2.The tasks that are planned for this week include interior painting, painting trim and forming the driveway.  The tasks may change depending on whether or not the project stays on schedule.  Each day will be broken down into two shifts... morning shift from 8:30 to noon and afternoon shift from 12:30 to 4:00.  We will need to provide the following:
  • Construction volunteers (12 volunteers per shift, per day).  Volunteers do not need to be skilled construction workers.  Volunteers may sign up for one shift, an entire day, or multiple shifts spread across the week.  Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.  Youth volunteers ages 14-17 will need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in order to volunteer.
  • Lunch for construction volunteers (lunch will be from 12:00 to 12:30 each day that week).  Volunteers are needed to provide food and paper products.  Lunches can be homemade by an individual or group or can be contributed by a restaurant.  
  • Financial donation toward the project.  The average cost of materials for a week on a Habitat build is about $5,000.  Churches and groups involved in the build are encouraged to make a financial contribution to Holston Habitat to help offset some of these costs.  
  • Prayers for the future homeowners, construction volunteers, and Habitat for Humanity.
